In The Bleak Midwinter

Actually, winter is just starting out with the arrival of the solstice...

Even though the pandemic has taken a big turn for the worse this season, I hope everyone out there is doing their best to stay hopeful. The good news is that it seems that a vaccine is on the way and that at some point in 2021 we can go back to whatever "normal" will be. (I don't like needles very much, but when it comes to this sign me up.)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, everybody!

Happy Anniversary

Today is the 2nd wedding anniversary of my brother Jackson and sister-in-law Wendy. I miss them a lot because it's been over a year since I've seen them in person.

Today Dad and I rode our bikes to the Davis Obelisk.

Twenty-Seven

Today is my birthday, my 27th to be exact. I went on a bike ride with Dad and then later Mom bought me Thai food (yum!). It's nice to be loved and celebrated, but I am really ready for this pandemic to be over.

Fairies Wear Boots

At least they do according to Black Sabbath...

Dad and I were out on patrol earlier today, delivering secret fairies to undisclosed locations around Davis, waiting for people to find them someday. You have to be pretty tough as a fairy to endure the summertime heat (and possibly curious dogs) around here. They might be small but they're built strong.

Uneventful Days

I'm not complaining, but the days seem to be all the same lately. I hope that I can return to some kind of normalcy one day.

I am enjoying daily walks and bike rides with my dad, though. We recently paid a visit to our old friends, the UC Davis "eggheads." They're located in several spots around the campus, but my favorites are this group around the music building. I do like the arts.

Born On A Pirate Ship

You are probably wondering why I'm rockin' this new look.

I have repurposed my Halloween pirate bandana into a protective mask. We all need to be very careful about not spreading the corona virus in our community and this is my contribution to the effort.

Today is my father's birthday. Happy birthday, Dad!

200

Not much going on here. I am getting to know Davis very well through walks and bike rides. But, I really can't go anywhere else for the time being.

In other news, this is my 200th blog post.

Don't Stand So Close To Me

It's not that I don't like you. It's just that we need to practice "social distancing" in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by a brand new virus.

Normally Dad and I head out to the desert in the early Spring. Not this year! I'm getting to know my hometown of Davis, California quite well. I'm staying at home right now like everyone else, but I walk or bike every day. Not a bad way to spend my time.

Going Viral

It seems like something is going on that's a bit out of the ordinary. I have watched people being more cautious around each other and I've been learning the fine art of greeting by elbow bump.

I really hope everything goes back to normal soon, but it's kind of nice that the world seems to be moving slower and quieter.

Birds

It's Groundhog Day, but all the wildlife I saw this morning takes to the sky.

Dad and I went to the Cosumnes River Preserve as we often do around this time of year. It was a beautiful day with huge flocks of birds wheeling around the wetlands. Hundreds of them by my count.

Later today, it's Super Bowl LIV. Normally I don't care about sports but this year...

Go Niners!
